Finished Size: 70in x 70in (bonus lap quilt 31in x 59in)

Big, bold and wonderfully modern, this quilt shows what you can achieve with a few strips and an octagon! You need an octagon shape, which you can either draw yourself or use the template we provide in the pattern. We really don’t like any fabric wastage so we also show you how to make some quick and easy nine-patch blocks to make a bonus lap quilt.


Requirements:

  • One jelly roll OR forty assorted 2½in strips cut across the width of the fabric

  • Accent fabric 1⅜yd (1.25m)

  • Background fabric 2¼yd (2.10m)

  • Binding fabric ½ yd (50cm)

  • 90 degree triangle ruler, at least 6½in from top to bottom. Templates provided as an alternative.

IMPORTANT:
Our downloads are set in UK A4 paper size. If you are printing other than A4 size (US letter size for example) please make sure the templates (if you use them) are printed at 100%.

Techniques & Rulers:

  • 90 degree triangle ruler that measures at least 6½in from the top of the triangle to the base file. We used Creative Grids Flying Geese & 45/90 ruler. Templates provided as an alternative.
