Double Sawtooth Goes Modern
This is a traditional patchwork pattern which looks great in contemporary fabrics. The twenty fat eighths needed for this quilt make twenty 12in blocks set four blocks across and five blocks down. If you need a larger quilt then all you need to do is work out how many blocks you need and add a fat eighth for each block. You will also need an extra 2½ in wide strip of background fabric for each block. It’s as easy as that!
We use a Creative Grids 45/90 for making our half-square triangles which is marked with the finished size of the half-square triangles. If you are using a different speciality ruler for making your half-square triangles please ensure you are lining up on the correct markings as some rulers might show the unfinished size of the half-square triangles. We do provide a template in the pattern but if you’re able to use a ruler, we find it much more accurate and speeds up your cutting.
The quilt measures 48in x 60in
You need:
20 fat eighths (9in x 21in)
1m (1.10 yards) background fabric
50cms (½ yard) binding fabric
Creative Grids Multi-Size 45/90 or another speciality ruler for making half-square triangles from strips. Optional template provided if not using a ruler.
